Global approach to water management: Water Loop
Clean water through clarification and filtration in a loop of performance for marble, ceramics, bricks, and cement

Dal Prete aims to maximize the performance of water management systems used in the production of marble, ceramics, bricks, and cement.
To achieve this goal, the principle of continuous extraction of sludge waste is essential. This approach allows us to create a closed-loop water recycling system called the Water Loop.
The Water Loop considers 7 key components that directly impact the performance of process water.
If properly dimensioned and kept operational, these 7 components can maximize the performance of the company’s entire production system.
SENDING PHASE
How clean water reaches production machines
Clean water storage
This is the primary source of water supply for production. Its capacity must be calculated to ensure a constant and adequate supply based on production needs.
Booster unit
Booster systems are selected to supply the active machines with the correct amount of water at the right pressure. This optimizes the performance of the machines and the processes they carry out.
Piping
The piping system must be designed to optimize water flow, both in quality and quantity, taking into account pressure loss and maintenance needs.
USAGE PHASE
How water is used in processing operations
Materials and dimensions
The first factor to “dirty” the water used by production machines is the type of material being processed. Natural stones, composite materials, bricks, and cement have different characteristics and sizes, which create wastewater with specific properties.
Processes and machinery
While the material affects the “type” of contamination, the processing defines the quantity. Each machine performs a specific function and produces variable waste, depending on the tasks it performs.
Wastewater
Wastewater is the result of different materials being processed using one or more machines. The type and concentration of the sludge waste directly affect the kind of treatment needed to make the water reusable.
COLLECTION PHASE
The flow and collection of dirty water
Drainage channels
Positioned near the machines, these collect water used in the production process. An effective design prevents stagnation and ensures the quick flow of all process residues toward the dirty water collection tank.
Collection tank
This collects the water used in production, which contains processed material particles and other residues. Its capacity, shape, and position directly affect how easily the water is collected and subsequently treated for recycling.
CLEANING PHASE
How to extract sludge and recover used water
Water treatment plant
The water treatment and cleaning system must ensure the maximum possible recovery of used water. The clean water must be reintroduced into the system free of impurities so as not to compromise other systems. The production residue must be easy to handle to avoid hazardous and polluting working conditions.
Chemicals
The chemicals used, in combination with the system setup, affect the speed and effectiveness of water cleaning. We use coagulants and flocculants, dosed according to the specific characteristics of the wastewater.
Coagulant
The coagulant is a chemical agent that activates the coagulation process of dirt particles in the water, forming the first micro-flakes.
Flocculant
The flocculant is a biodegradable agent that captures the micro-flakes dispersed in the water, aggregating them into larger, heavier flakes that quickly settle to the bottom.
